This interdisciplinary event seeks to promote greater awareness of the importance of effective communication and "a common language" spoken when people from diverse backgrounds work together; as is the case in the UN system and UN peace operations.

The aim is to deepen the international debate on questions pertaining to cultural diversity;  including key aspects such as diversity management, terminology, global education as well as shared communication and collaboration tools.  How to achieve effective diversity management and cross-cultural communication in the field? What special role of language and terminology in improving internal and external communication? 

Academics and practitioners from diverse fields and disciplines are invited to present and discuss these and other questions, as well as to propose new research.

Participants may give a short presentation of their paper or briefly report from their professional experience, leading to a group discussion.

Paper submissions shall not exceed 750 words, including an abstract of maximum 250 words. The submission deadline for proposals is March 31, 2010. Please provide your submissions electronically, in PDF format, to: workinggroup@unstudies.org.
